Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photographer and journalist who has been covering natural and war-related disasters for nearly 45 years. Her focus is on the suffering of those who live in these places. Curry's mom is Japanese and her father is another American Naval Sailor. The couple met when their father was in Japan in the aftermath of World War II. Because of her father's military duty, the family travelled frequently. Curry completed her high school education at Ashland Oregon. She graduated in 1978 from her school at the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. They moved frequently, so Curry did not remain in one school for more than two years traveling to various locations including San Diego Alameda Oregon and Virginia. In Medford the following year, she began her broadcasting career at KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. at the age of 22 she was the station's first female reporter. Following that, she went on to become an anchor reporter and anchor for KGW KGW, which was which is an NBC affiliate station located in Portland. Then, four years later, she relocated into Los Angeles and became a reporter for KCBS TV. Through her KCBS-TV relationship of six years, she was awarded the two Emmy Awards.
